The Critical Gardening Collective is a Montreal-based group of artists and researchers who first gathered in 2019 to develop the Toward a Fourth Nature project. We get our name with a nod to critical making. We have no divinely instigated mission, no list of criteria or boxes to check when working, no fixed boundaries between art/science, concept/object, natural/artificial.
Our long-term project is to create a bipolar moss garden at the Montreal Botanical Garden.
